Why Porsche’s F1 talks with Red Bull have collapsed?

Porsche confirmed on Friday that talks with Red Bull about cooperation in Formula 1 have ended after a few months.

The iconic carmaker aims to enter the sport in 2026 after new engine regulations are expected to come into effect. According to ESPN, it had hoped for a 50% stake in Red Bull Technologies, the parent company of the Formula 1 team that leads both championships this season. However, Red Bull was reportedly reluctant to give up any control over the team.

Although Red Bull reportedly offered the idea of investing in the company’s powertrain division, negotiations broke down. Porsche said in a statement: “Over the past few months, Dr. eng. hc F. Porsche AG and Red Bull GmbH have held talks about the possibility of Porsche’s entry into Formula 1. The two companies have now jointly concluded that these talks will no longer be pursued.
